Pulse prints a running receipt of your product: a warm thermal strip feeds out of a little printer, line by line, with dotted leaders and a black-and-coral two-color print head. The feed stalls on the one line that is wrong, a coral circle lands around it, and a human ticks the box.
The strip feeds downward one line per 16th note. "SKIPPED" repeats like a drum roll, the totals print on beat 1 of bar 3, and the serif question fades up under the tear on the last bar.
On the drop the printer spits a fresh header upward-fast (one burst, 180 ms). The dithered mark and double-height "ACME / PULSE" print in one pass that ends exactly on the downbeat; the stats roll out after it.
Healthy lines feed down steadily; the CHECKOUT line prints in coral and the feed stops dead. The hand-drawn circle strokes around it in one beat, the printer LED turns coral, and "Roll back" pops in on the next downbeat as the box ticks.
The strip tears off and swings left 4° (power3.out, 400 ms) on a downbeat. The headline prints in above, the lockup settles to the right, and "Start free" lands on the final hit.
A receipt is a universal proof object: itemised, timestamped, final. It turns background monitoring into something you can literally hold. Risk: a tall strip fights a square frame; crop tight and never show more than about 12 lines.
Adapt to your product: print your own checks as line items (tests, invoices, sync jobs, API calls) and let only the failing one print in your accent color. The totals block is a natural place for your key number.
