Small Multiples

Edward Tufte's answer to 'compared to what?': a quiet grid of identical little charts sharing one scale, so a single outlier jumps off the page. The film starts in dashboard chaos with 38 mismatched scales, then Acme Pulse snaps everything onto one axis and the broken metric can't hide.

1 · HOOK0:00–0:08

Mismatched tiles fill the grid in a fast diagonal cascade from top-left; sparklines jitter at different scales, and the headline's italic today lands on the downbeat before the drop.

2 · REVEAL0:08 (drop)

On the drop 38 tiles collapse to 14 and every sparkline re-scales onto one shared dashed baseline; the centre tile floods teal and the Acme mark pops in on beat 2.

3 · PROOF MOMENT0:12–0:32

All 12 sparklines draw left to right in sync; at 09:42 only Checkout conv. breaks downward, its frame turns coral on the snare, then the −18% card and Roll back rise from below.

4 · CTA0:36–0:45

14 small calm charts draw in as a two-row strip; the italic Every minute lands on the downbeat and Start free presses on the last bar.

WHY / RISK · ADAPT IT

Identical small charts make the anomaly self-evident without any arrows; it feels like evidence, which is ideal for trust. Risk: a quiet grid can read as a slide — keep the outlier motion bold and let the camera lean in.

Adapt to your product: Put your product's real metrics or entities (services, regions, customers, jobs) into a same-scale grid; your anomaly is the one tile that breaks the pattern.
